Happy New Year! To start off our Time and Vision Project, we will begin the semester by investigating the intersections between math and art, which will include reading the novella Flatland by Edwin A. Abbott.

Office Depot sells this set for $4. You should also be able to find it at Wal-Mart. Bring your set to class on Monday. Also, for extra credit, make or buy play-dough or clay (it needs to be sliceable!) for our next unit on solid geometry. Wednesday, January 4 In reading groups, take turns reading aloud or listen to the audiobook for chapters 1 and 2 of Flatland. Take notes on the text in your Flatland journal. Complete the discussion questions in your group and submit to Google Classroom. Homework: If you have not finished reading or taking notes on chapters 1 and 2, do so on your own. Thursday, January 5 In reading groups, take turns reading aloud or listen to the audiobook for chapters 3 and 4 of Flatland. Take notes on the text in your Flatland journal. Discuss the questions with your group, and then complete the assignment individually in Google Classroom. Friday, January 6 1) Class discussion of chapters 1-4 2) Complete Drawing Assignment 1 in your reading group. Due at the end of the class period. Homework: Read and take notes on chapters 5-8 of Flatland. Also, bring in your math set (and play-dough or clay for extra credit) on Monday.
